Beatrice Wood

USA (1893—1998)
Born to a wealthy family from San Francisco and well travelled, Wood studied arts and theatre in Paris and in New York, where she met Marcel Duchamp and Henri-Pierre Roché. With them she founded The Blind Man magazine, bringing Dada movement to US and growing the artistic avant-garde community around the Arensbergs patronage, together with Francis Picabia, Man Ray, Edgare Varese etc. After the war she approached sculpture and later ceramics. Later in her career she joined the Theosophical Society – Adyar and became a writer.
