Ilarie Voronca
Romania (1903—1946)Born in Brăila in 1903 as Eduard Marcus, Ilarie Voronca made his literary debut in 1922 in Sburătorul literar. He soon became involved in the Romanian modernist avant-garde, contributing to Ion Vinea and Marcel Janco’s magazine Contimporanul, as well as Punct and Integral. In 1924, he co-founded the avant-garde magazine 75 HP with Victor Brauner and Stephan Roll. His first poetry collection, Restrişti, appeared in 1923, followed by Colomba, published in Paris in 1927 with portraits by Robert Delaunay. He settled permanently in France in 1933, becoming part of the Parisian avant-garde milieu.
