Izis (Israëlis Bidermanas)
Lithuania (1911—1980)Lithuanian-born Izis moved to Paris in 1930 with no money, in search of work. He began his career in a photography studio, working mainly in lifestyle and portrait photography. During the war, he moved to the Limousin, where his photographs captured the emotions and actions of the partisan resistance. After World War II, he began collaborating with Paris Match. In 1950, he published Paris des rêves, followed in 1951 by Grand Bal du printemps, created in collaboration with his friend Jacques Prévert.
