Štefan Bednár
Slovakia (1909—1976)After studying applied arts in Prague, Bednár turned to painting, working first in the Czech capital and later in Paris. During the Slovak National Uprising, he joined the resistance movement and became an editor of the political weekly Nové slovo. He produced series of politically inspired graphic illustrations, leaflets, posters and linocuts. He continued to paint alongside this work, addressing political and social themes.
