Willem Sandberg

The Netherlands (1897—1984)
After his apprenticeship in Switzerland, Sandberg travelled to Vienna and to Berlin, where he visited Bauhaus Dessau and Naum Gabo’ studio. Back in Amsterdam he worked as a graphic designer applying his learnings on printing methods and isotope systems. In 1928 he was employed at the Stedelijk Museum, for which he rearranged the collection of circa 300 catalogues. Later he became curator of the museum’s modern art section.
