Willem Sandberg
The Netherlands (1897—1984)After his apprenticeship in Switzerland, Sandberg travelled to Vienna, where he studied Otto Neurath’s Isotype system, and visited the Bauhaus in Dessau, where he met Naum Gabo. Back in Amsterdam, he worked as a graphic designer, applying his knowledge of printing techniques and pictorial information systems. In 1928, he began working for the Stedelijk Museum, designing exhibition graphics and catalogues. He later became curator of the museum’s modern art collection.
