César Domela
The Netherlands (1900—1992)Self-taught, Domela began painting after the First World War, initially influenced by Cubism and Constructivism. In 1924 he became the youngest member of De Stijl and began developing his Neoplastic compositions, while in 1927 he joined Die Abstrakten Hannover. He experimented with different materials and techniques, including photomontage, and established his own advertising agency. During the 1930s he collaborated with Cercle et Carré and later with the Abstraction-Création group. In 1933 he moved to Paris, where in 1937 he founded the review Plastique with Hans Arp and Sophie Taeuber-Arp.
