The Museum of Avant-garde is pleased to announce the launch of its annual programme, inviting artists and creatives to submit their work to the contemporary collection and participate in the MA-g Awards.
Institutional Developments
This year marks a significant milestone for our institution. The Museum of Avant-garde has officially become a registered non-profit organisation in Italy (Fondazione ETS) and will open its first physical exhibition space in Milan in autumn 2026.
The 2026 Jury
Since the first edition in 2021, the jury panels have included: William Klein, Seymour Chwast, Tom Geismar, Duane Michals, Gerald Scarfe, Henry Steiner, Nobuyoshi Araki, Maciej Hibner, Fritz Gottschalk, Graciela Iturbide, Ed Fella, Antanas Sutkus, Guy Billout, and Rosmarie Tissi. The 2026 edition features three international chairs:
— Raghu Rai – MA-g Awards for Photography
— Malaquías Montoya – MA-g Awards for Illustration
— David Hillman – MA-g Awards for Graphic Design
Following the passing of Raghu Rai, the Raghu Rai Foundation has agreed to chair the jury of the 2026 Raghu Rai MA-g Awards for Photography in his honour.
Objectives and Permanent Collection
The MA-g Awards offer applicants the opportunity to have their work reviewed directly by leading figures who have shaped the 20th-century creative landscape. Each year, the Museum of Avant-garde partners with three prominent practitioners in contemporary photography, illustration, and graphic design to form a unique jury panel for each discipline.
All entries undergo a two-stage evaluation process. Shortlisted artworks will be featured in the Museum's contemporary section and will enter the permanent collection.
Submissions and Regulations
To review the regulations, deadlines, terms, and conditions, please download the Entry Pack. Registration and submissions must be completed through the online form at www.ma-g.org/awards/entry/.
To promote equal participation and global inclusivity, a 50% discount is available to students and to applicants from countries ranked within the top 100 poorest nations by the World Population Review (accessible here). Further details regarding eligibility for concessions are specified in the Entry Pack.
We look forward to receiving your submissions and to welcoming you to our new location in Milan.
