Georges Vantongerloo
Belgium (1886—1965)Georges Vantongerloo began his career in Antwerp before moving to the Netherlands in 1914, where he met Mondrian, van der Leck and van Doesburg and joined the emerging De Stijl group. After returning to Brussels and later settling in Menton, he developed his research into abstraction and collaborated with Max Bill on several projects. In 1930 he moved to Paris, where he became one of the founders of Abstraction‑Création and served as its vice‑president until 1937. He continued to take part in international exhibitions throughout his life.
